Safety & Care

Safety is carefully managed across both camp and expedition phases. Camp Chiefs and instructors trained through NOLS, NIM, JIM, and HMI maintain a 1:6 adult-to-participant ratio, with at least one female instructor per ten female participants. A wilderness first aid expert accompanies the expedition throughout, a resident doctor is stationed on the Coorg camp, and a support vehicle carries supplies and spares. Except during the summit trek, the group remains within 30 to 45 minutes of a hospital.

Tent-atively Wild

During the first two days and final night, participants stay in rooms with attached toilets and baths. On the expedition, participants pitch and share tents each night, with toilet tents carried for privacy at every campout spot. Bathing is not possible during expedition days, though streams and natural water holes offer opportunities to freshen up along the route.

Fueled for Adventure

During the expedition, participants plan and prepare their own meals under instructor guidance, using food transported by the support vehicle. Meal planning is treated as a core learning experience, with trail mixes maintaining energy between camps. On the Coorg camp days, participants enjoy nutritious vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals, with Jain food available on request.
