There day is designed to be a balance of adventure, creativity and group activities. The day starts at 6 am on an inme program. Generally, the WOW adventure activities are the first half of the day. By lunch time children are back on campus. They get time to bath and relax. Post that we have evening COOL time activities. Children get to explore new interests and skills which are beyond adventure. Then we have games session in the evening where children play inme sports like French folk ball, capture the flag etc. Children are generally off to bed by 9 pm so that they wake up fresh for next day!

The weather conditions vary across different locations depending on the time of the year. In summers, the weather is generally chilly early in the morning, sunny during the day and then cool again in the evening. There might be stray rain showers as the weather outdoors is different from urban cities. Our kit lists are program specific and designed to keep children comfortable in varied weather conditions.

The accommodation varies as per location. We have fixed tents and/or dorms on our campuses. The fixed tents can easily accommodate 6 grown adults. The accommodation is basic but comfortable. We have western style WC, running water etc. to make sure children are comfortable on the campus. We have hot water at certain timings of the day.

We have a very detailed food menu for children on the campus. We plan for about 6 meals on the campus which start around morning wake up time and ends with dinner. There is a lot of variety to ensure that even the pickiest of children also have something that they enjoy. Food on our programs has consistently been rated as awesome and fabulous by more than 98% of participant’s year on year.

We have a variety of outdoor adventure activities available on our programs depending on the age group, location and the geography. We have adventure activities like rock climbing, Ropes course, backpacking, mountain biking, rafting etc. You can explore more details here.

The primary consideration on an outdoors program is hydration. We ensure that we have adequate provision of drinking water on all our campuses. There is clean RO (Reverse Osmosis) filtered drinking water at multiple water points across the campus. Children are encouraged to have at least 2 ltrs of water throughout the day to ensure sufficient hydration levels.

Safety

Inme programs happen at locations which have been recced keeping wildlife, local flora & fauna, topology and geography in mind. The campus boundaries and common areas are clearly marked and are well lit at night. Whenever, children go out of the campus for any adventure activity they are always with our instructors and under adult supervision.

Our programs happen away from the hustle bustle of cities and urban spaces. These are intentionally in the wilderness to connect with nature. Insects and moths are more commonly found on our campuses than bigger wildlife. The physical boundaries are also fenced to keep wildlife out if any.

The instructors on expedition programs are Wilderness First Aid certified. They are trained and certified to handle different types of emergencies on outdoor trails. The camping spots are scouted to make sure they are suitable for camping night out’s. The base camp also has the details of the trekking route and nearest road head to assist if needed.

We have the details of the closest medical facilities in case a need arises.

We have one of the highest industry ratio of 1:6 adults to child participants. There are enough adult instructors to make sure that program is safe and fun.

Our instructors are the backbone of our programs. They go through rigorous selection process and specific training modules n working with children. They are good at dealing with not just the physical safety but also the emotional safety of a child. They are trained for gender sensitivity and know how to take care of children.

The campus perimeters are well lit at night and secured against stray wildlife. Our instructors are generally up till much after the participants go off to sleep. In case children want to use the washroom at night, they always wake up an instructor and follow the buddy system.

We had 49% female participants in 2018 summers. Girls and boys have separate living area and washrooms. There are multiple lady instructors on all our programs who are sensitive to needs of a child. Children are always under multiple adult’s supervision. You can get to know more about our team here.

Children On Camp

The best part of an inme program is the diversity. We have children coming in from a lot of different cities and schools within the age range of the program. It’s a unique opportunity to interact and make new friends. It is advisable to keep an open mind when you come on the program as the assigning of living spaces is random. In some instances, we may have two friends staying along with new bunch of tent mates. The joy of making new friends is unparalleled.

The challenge level of adventure activities is decided according to the age group of the program. The adventure activities are designed to extend your child physically and mentally but within limits. It is recommended that children do 30 mins of running or playing a sport at least 3 weeks before the program to get them comfortable with physical exertion.

For younger children it is pretty common to feel homesick when they are away from home. Our instructors are good at helping children overcome homesickness. New faces become familiar and children start making new friends. Children start getting engaged in the program when they start having fun. In fact, it’s more common for children to feel camp sick at the end of the program!

All your child’s needs are taken care of from the time they are under our care. So, your child doesn’t need any money on the campus. We set up a small shop at the end of the program where children can purchase memorabilia like t-shirts, keychains etc. They can carry a maximum of Rs. 2500 for the same. Outstation participants should carry separate emergency money which they can use inside the airport. There have been multiple instances of flight getting delayed at the airport

Rucksacks which are of 50-60 ltrs capacity is what is recommended to be carried on the program. Alternately, you can carry a collapsible duffle bag. Strollers/suitcases are not allowed as they are not suitable for outdoors. There is sand, gravel, mud, stones etc. and no paved pathways. Urban luggage solutions get damaged and then it’s extremely difficult for a child to manage.

There will be two updates in a day to let you know what’s happening on the program. One in the morning and one in the evening. Photos of the program will be uploaded as and when we receive them from the campus. Please note that there is low network connectivity to upload photographs in the wilderness.
