Safety is layered carefully into every stage of the expedition. Camp Chiefs and instructors trained through NOLS, NIM, JIM, and HMI maintain a 1:6 adult-to-participant ratio, with at least one female instructor per ten female participants. Equipment meets the highest international standards. Wilderness first aid experts accompany the group throughout, a resident doctor is stationed on the Tons camp, and the nearest hospital is 40 kilometres away in Purola.
