Our Yercaud campus is set within a 250-acre coffee estate and plantation in the Shevaroys range of hills in the Eastern Ghats. The name Yercaud means "Lake Forest" and was named such due to the abundance of trees near a lake made by the locals. It is also known as Jewel of the South. Situated at an altitude of 4970 feet, it is located 30 KM from the city of Salem, Tamil Nadu.
Accommodation on the campus is in tents (separate for boys and girls) that are laid out in two rows with open areas for activities. A large open structure made in local style is the central hub that doubles up for activities and dining.
First time programs are designed for 9-12 year olds to encourage them to step out of their comfort zone and explore the world of adventure and wilderness experiences. These programs are 5-day long experiences and are shorter than our usual Discover-On Campus programs.
Typically a first timers summer camp at Yercaud has 70 participants who work in 4 smaller activity groups of 15-18 participants under the care and guidance of trained outdoor instructors.
There are 4 activities offered on this program - rock climbing, wilderness craft, ropes course, and back packing. Participants spend a day doing each of these activities and these are usually conducted in the first half of the day. Post lunch the participants engage in activities that include community service, environment awareness or village visits. Late evening are for informal activities, campfire and group interaction.
We offer a fixed combination of all four activities on our First Timer programs
Please Note: While fun is an important element in our designs, we do not promise a cushioned, luxury holiday. We take utmost care to ensure that children are well fed, remain hydrated and have a comfortable sleep. But being without phones, sharing living spaces, baths, toilets is as much a part of the unfamiliar environment that aids learning as the great big outdoors.
